Straight black and white potato chip style, West German, 1955. Measures in at 11mm, they are not flat as the picture would suggest, they are wavy and have some character. Sold in lots of 12 for $7. Order# BDVN5429.

What a great Japanese foil bead from 1950. A hint of pink, baby blue, some green in there and who knows what else. They are all slightly different, these things were made by hand y'know and there are never two the same. A goodly size, too, they measure 12x20mm and we sell them for the lowly price of $18 per dozen. This bead is from the L'ar M'an series but it is the only one left that we know of. Order# BDVN5424.

Black window beads, Czechoslovakia 1950. Rare in that the window peaks onto foil, usually window beads don't do that, they just present more glass of the same color. These are black glass, so more of the same would not provide any contrast, hence I guess the maker used foil for the contrast. Quite a stunning effect, and they are amply big to show it..12x17mm. These are really pretty yellow Japanese spotty beads with an occasional pink gadzymus on them. Representative of the original Japanese gadzymus plant, found up until the 17th century and now extinct, we only have these to remind us of them. Wine colored ovals from Germany, 1953. Well, depends on what kind of wine you drink but technically do not use these with fish, they are a meat bead. Measure about 8x14mm. No charge for the stripe and no charge for the genuine petrol derived see through container in which they will be shipped! Do we try or what?
