Purple givre bead from DS Swarovski, circa 1946. 6mm round, one of the forerunners. Facetted, great spacer or on it's own. This bead is also a rare piece of history as the type only existed fo a year or less. Sold in lots of 12 pcs for $7.20. Number BD VN 008. Two lot minimum.
At first glance you might think these three beads do not belong together, but actually they do. Put the 3 colors in your head together and see they formulate all sorts of possibilities for a Mediterranean look. String many of one color and a few of the others and twist together...or one of each...or on and on. Sold by color or sold as a group, they all measure 8X4mm (rectangles) but they do vary in shape in that some are pure rectangular, others are slightly twisted. Four identical disk beads, slight dapping on two sides brings out the striations. The holes run properly, from side to side, NOT through the middle (which is why you can't see them). That is how you want them, trust me. Run together or by color, mix or don't mix with other beads, you cannot find these disks in any modern collection..because they are not made, haven't been since 1950. Czecho. They measure a goodly 12mm (1/2") and are Transluscent. Chevron pattern is apparent on all. Sold by color in lots of 10 for $15 . Nice 6mm buttons are shaped like flying saucers, convex. Japanese, 1947. Stack or use singly to offset other beads, for that sort of snakey look, if I gotta tell you what to do with them, then where is your creativity? Italy sent these foiled lampwork beads, in 1950. They just got here. Measure 13mm, almost round. No charge for the pins, they are vintage too. Lot of 2 for $12.00 .Order # BD-VN-525D.
These beads are 11mm givre beads produced by DS in 1949, Austria. A lot of experimentation was done with the givres but few examples survive today. This is one of them that has. They are quite rare, we do have some versions but there were hundreds tried, although not many of each ever got out of Austria. These are facetted, most but not all givres were facetted.
