Jet Black Glass with a double AB coating on it is known (was known) as "Scarabee". THIS is scarabee. A rare and unusual configuration, which you will probably mispronounce also. The emphasis is on the FIRST syllable, SCA, not on the second RA, as some would no doubt go for. These SCArabee are 9mm lumpy cubes and offer a magnificent presentation not really possible to see within the confines and limitations of frontal lighting photography. Sold in lots of 2 for $25. Order # BD-VN-1287
Another Austrian bead in the hard to find SALMON PINK, 8mm facetted. Sold in lots of 6 pcs for $18.00. BDVN1140.
Three beads of different fashion colors: jet black, cranberry red, and charcoal grey. Rectangles, 7X4mm. They work well together or individually. Also from Austria. BDVN1148, "A" for Red, "B" for Black, "C" for grey. Sold in lots of 12 for $8, or get 12 of each for $21 ("D")!! # BD-VN-1148.
A Japanese peeking bead, forerunner to the window beads later produced. These foil beads are quite rare as they gave way in later years to full window beads which, if you look throughout this catalog, you will find in many variations. Window beads are easier to find than this antique "peek-a-boo" bead, you will be hard pressed to find these as not many have survived. These are 9mm more or less, handmade, transluscent MINK color with a gold foil peeking out. Sold in lots of 2 for $10.50 per lot. BD-VN-1285A.
Red SMOOTH MILK GLASS, in 7mm size, such character, such beauty, and where else would you find such dignity? Where else? Hah! Only here, that is where. Beads vary quite a bit so when you run them up together you get a lot of action going on. Or use for spacers...This bunch came from West Germany in 1947, hoping for citizenship, but those hopes were dashed as they lied on their immigration forms. Give them a good home, they mean no harm. Sold in lots of 4 for $9. Order # BD-VN-418.
Jelly Bean Beads!! Run from Deep Red to lighter Red, depends how the light hits them. Cracked glass too, which you can't see unless you hold them. And how do we get to hold them? Buy them of course!! I bet you thought that was a trick question... West German jelly bean beads are 15X10mm, nice size, delicious beads. Sold in lots of 4 for $15. Order # BD-VN-435.
Irridescent 12mm RED PEARLS! Where else could you find this but at this site? Not too many to be had of these classic Japanese creations from 1949. Sold in lots of 6 for $129. Just kidding!! Six for $12. BD-VN-1153
Tapered rectangles, measure 5X8mm, from West Germany circa 1949. Look closely at these beads, they are rare bicolors...there is a bit of honey color at one end and for the most part the bead is dominated by the red inclusions. Uncommon in this configuration, uncommon in this shape. If you are looking for common beads, you are in the wrong place! Sold in lots of 12 for $9.50, BD-VN-1152.
Pretty pink pearlescents, 6mm, Czech 1948. Sold in lots of 6 for $7. Popular color, pink is, for whatever reason. A stinker of a bead! So these won't last too long either! BD-VN-1136B.
