There are many qualities of Mother-of-Pearl.
The real article is no longer allowed to be brought into the USA as it is
an endangered species!
Many people sell what they call "Mother-of-Pearl" but which is actually another animal called Trocha. Trocha is similar to M-O-P but it does not have the "life" that M-O-P has. It is generally whiter with much less contrast in the luminescence.
We have had this Mother-of-Pearl in stock for at least 40 years, probably longer.
It is genuine.

HeartsGenuine Mother-Of-Pearl Heart with hole
drilled in top for a bale. Mother-of-Pearl has recently been
added to the endangered species list, making it illegal to bring in
to the USA anymore. It is legal to sell what is already here, but
new supplies can no longer be imported. We have these in stock since the early 50's.
When they are sold out, that is the end of it! These measure between 20-25mm (a full inch), a handiwork
so they do vary somewhat. Note also that they are dapped (curve outward) making them fully

Natural color Coffee Abalone shell disks, natural in color and not enhanced in any way, the color ranges from a light Grey AB to a nice milk chocolate brown to almost black. Gradations in the shell make each one different. They are curved outward, convex as we say in the trade, and measure about 30mm round. Each has a hole drilled in the top for easy attachment of a jump or split ring. Both sides shown, use them either way. Sold in lots of 3 for $6. Order # SH14.
Fancy Abalone shell carved pendant, speaks for itself. Colorations will vary slightly as this is a natural product. Sold in lots of 1 for $7 each. Measures 42x36mm, the opening is 14mm. Hole for bail or jump ring. Order # SH15.
