West German bean shaped beads measure 8X13mm. These are unusual in that the hole runs East to West, rather than North to South. Thus they give an interesting effect on the strand, lying wider than long. Furthermore, they hug the wrist if used in bracelets. an effect not possible with elongated beads. Rare Japanese FIN BEADS, in striated white on Green, a good size measuring avg 12mm (1/2"). These are made with real Fin, not the imitation one, but the real thing. Circa 1949...no fakes here. The two color combination is what makes these rare. Sold in lots of 2 for $12. Order # BD-VN-1162B.
Over a base of cobalt lies an odd configuration similar to volcanic rock. At least that is what it looks and feels like, the cobalt peers out here and there, the surface also has some sort of dusting of silver on it. Very unusual beads from Japan, 1946.
