At first perusal these beads look like pressed glass but I assure you they are not. Each one was hand made by the West Germans in 1954, they are sculpted beads, actually hand made in groups under heat, note the sculpting. The exact process involved rolling the molten glass over a pattern doodad. Coated in an overall pearlescent finish, we have two colors and that is all we have. They are best buddies too, get along fine, even look good together. Very unusual beads because sculpted beads were usually made to order, not in advance, so finding any quantity together in two colors is a rare occurrance indeed. In the category of 'Big Rocks' these two lovelies measure20x25mm and are available in but these two colors, light pink and light blue as you see. A bit more lumpy than the ones seen earlier in this catalog, both are on the order of 'pale'. Sold in lots of 12 for $15. Sold of course by color, as long as it is blue. Originally from West Germany, these beads are called "wedding cakes" because of the way they are decorated. Or maybe because if you bite one you
will break your jaw, similar to some real wedding cakes. Whatever the reason, you can see they are beautiful and these are a deep navy blue with pink "icing".
Made in 1948 and still survive to this day. How many weddings can say that? They measure 18mm round, more or less, all wedding cakes were hand made. Sold in
